objectives

Objectives of the project are linked to distinct phases and are as follows:

  • summarising literature findings with respect to health determinants and existing studies on health promotion for older people in the partner countries;
  • compiling relevant terms in a glossary in order to create a common understanding of what health and other related issues mean in the context of older people and health promotion;
  • creating a catalogue of criteria for the collection, selection and evaluation of health promotion programmes for older people;
  • undertaking a detailed evaluation of selected health promotion programmes using a common evaluation framework;
  • developing evidence-based guidelines and recommendations for health promotion for older people;
  • supporting the transfer of knowledge of project outcomes on a national and European level through appropriate dissemination strategies.

Important issues to be addressed during the project:

  • Socio-economic determinants: e.g. education, social networks, culture, ethnicity
  • Environmental determinants: e.g. housing conditions, urban/rural areas
  • Lifestyle: e.g. physical activitiy, nutrition,
  • Access to health promotion programmes
  • Sustainability
  • Multidisciplinarity
