Short summary Sappi Gratkorn has made its major aim to implement health promotion into their organisation in a sustainable way. For this reason indicators for stresses and strains and health potentials are raised. Then special strategies of health promotion are developed for different target groups (older people, women, and shift workers). It is planed to recruit one person as a health expert in the company and to train moderators for special health circles (“Gesundheitszirkel”). Health promotion will be anchored in the management system of Sappi Gratkorn.
Main objectives
  • Raise indicators for strains and stresses and health potentials.
  • Develop strategies of health promotion for 3 target groups. Training of moderators for health circles(“Gesundheitszirkel”).
  • Recruiting a health expert.
  • Anchoring health promotion in the management system.
Main activities
  • In the company a system analysis was conducted, e.g. company data, site visit to evaluate the work places, interviews and health circles and questionnaire surveys targeting the entire workforce of the company. The analysis of the as-is analysis was the result of all mentioned above and a "health map" of the company was developed. All results were communicated to the staff. In addition a concept for improvement measures and process were developed.
Evaluation  yes
Description of evaluation Regular evaluations of the measures carried out at the company were performed: company data, site visit to evaluate the work places, interviews and health circles, quantitative questionnaire surveys targeting the entire workforce of the company.
Main results
  • Blue collar workers show relatively low challanges, sense and interest of their job compared to white collar workers. Also to take part is significant different between the two groups. The promotion of knowledge and qualification of everyone in every-day work process must be reinforced in future. Furthermore a participative and cooperative leadership culture and team-oriented processes must be developed for this change.

Background Information on Database

The aim of the second phase of the healthPROelderly project was to collect models of good practice in the area of health promotion for older people. One of the main activities in this project phase was to elicit criteria by which to choose such models in each of the participating countries. The exclusion criteria and inclusion criteria were elicited by all project partners on the basis of the literature overview of health promotion for older people carried out in the first project phase. Project partners searched for models in their countries by: 1) using the literature databases they had compiled; 2) by using health promotion databases and other information available on internet and 3) by consulting their national boards and other experts.
